Erin Sagaskie is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a high school math teacher at Carbondale Community High School in Carbondale, Illinois. Erin started her teaching career at Zion-Benton Township High School and also spent one year teaching in an alternative high school. Erin was awarded a grant to attend the International Congress in Mathematics Education. She is currently serving on a national advisory board tasked with providing input on the design standards for mathematics pathway courses to ensure they address issues of relevance, equity, and implementation. Erin supports transitional math teachers from all over the state by leading monthly virtual PD and creating and sharing materials and methods. She has been a member of the association’s contract negotiation team for many years, leading the team for the last two cycles. She earned her BS and teaching credential in mathematics, MS in mathematics, and PhD in curriculum & instruction with a focus on mathematics education from Southern Illinois University.
