Joshua Salas is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow, a 11th grade teacher leader, and Black Student Union advisor at Alliance Renee & Meyer Luskin Academy. As a department lead, he focuses on growing teachers and students to highlight students with learning disabilities’ support and self-determination so they feel validated in their classrooms. Outside of the classroom, Josh served as a school community organizer for Leadership for Education Equity (LEE). Joshua began his teaching career in Los Angeles as a 2019 Teach for America corps member and also served as a founding advisor for Brio College Prep’s Black Student Union and co-creating ethnic studies curriculum for Ednovate. He earned his BA in Sociology and Global Studies at UC Santa Barbara, one MA in Sociology from San Diego State University, and his teaching credential and a second MA in Special Education from Loyola Marymount University.
