Joshua Salas is a 2026-2027 California Educator Diversity Action Network (CEDAN) Educator Leader. He is an Associate Principal of Supplemental Services at Hawking S.T.E.A.M. Charter Schools in San Diego. Josh uplifts students and teachers through inclusive education practices, self-determination, and asset-based work. He was a high school Resource Specialist at Brio College Prep & Alliance Renee-Meyer Luskin Academy, where he served as a Department Chair,Black Student Union (BSU) & Associated Student Body (ASB) faculty advisor. Josh went on to serve as Special Education Coordinator at Alliance College-Ready Middle Academy #12 before becoming an Associate Principal. Josh was an Aspiring Principal of Color Fellow for the Diversity in Leadership Institute, Advisor for Education Trust-West, Teach Plus California Senior Policy Fellow, and an Advisory Board Member for CPAG. He began his teaching career in Los Angeles as a 2019 Teach for America corps member. Josh earned his BA in Sociology & Global Studies from University of California, Santa Barbara and MA in Sociology from San Diego State University. He also earned an MA in Special Education, along with his special education teaching credential and Administrative Credential, from Loyola Marymount University (LMU). Josh is currently pursuing his Doctorate of Education (EdD) at LMU.
