Alejandro Samaniego

Alejandro Samaniego is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Indiana Policy Fellow and International Baccalaureate mathematics teacher at Shortridge High School in Indianapolis. He serves as faculty sponsor for student community organizers. Previously, Alejandro was an adjunct instructor at the University of Iowa and Kirkwood Community College, where he also worked as a school bus driver. He received the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation scholarship from San Francisco State University (2011–2012), was a Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need fellow at the University of Iowa (2012–2014), and was “Champion for Student Success” at the University of Iowa (2019). Alejandro was elected to the Governance Committee of the Indiana State Teachers Association and serves as a delegate, representing the Indianapolis Education Association at the National Education Association Representative Assembly. He has a BA in mathematics for advanced study from San Francisco State University and MS in mathematics from the University of Iowa.
