Jewel Sanchez is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus California Emergent Bilingual Change Agent, and 10th grade English and newcomer English teacher at San Leandro High School in San Leandro California. She implements a curriculum that acknowledges and respects students’ diverse lived experiences. Jewel is the Latino Unidos Club Advisor and teaching fellow with Poetry Inside Out (2024) and Agency by Design (2025). She earned her BA in English with a minor in creative writing from Chico State University and MAT in urban education and social justice from the University of San Francisco.
