Janine Scott is a 2023-2024 Michigan Teacher Leadership Collaborative Member and a high school math teacher at Davis Aerospace Technical HS in Detroit, Michigan. She has been teaching in the Detroit Public Schools Community District since 2003. Janine is a Master Teacher/Teacher coach, and is the president of Chalk Beat’s Reader Advisory board. She is the 2020/2021 Michigan Department of Education’s (Region 10) Detroit Teacher of the Year, and a recipient of the Michigan Lottery Excellence in Education Award. She has also received the Teacher Impact award 7 times. She received her BSE in industrial engineering from the University of Michigan in 1990 and a Master of teaching in math and science from Wayne State University in 2000.
