James T. Sheridan is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellow and 11th grade Advanced Placement (AP) English literature instructor at YES Prep East End Secondary School in Houston. He serves as grade level chair and runs the East End Teacher Advisory Council. James previously served as the AP English literature course facilitator and special populations curriculum writer for YES Prep Public Schools, taught 9th grade English, and coached cross country and track and field. He was a 2000 Teach For America corps member at McReynolds Middle School in Houston Independent School District and taught at KIPP 3D Academy Middle School, Mastery Charter Pickett Campus, and YES Prep Southeast Campus. James was a finalist for the H-E-B Excellence in Teaching Award (2025-2026) in the Lifetime Achievement Secondary Division and is completing National Board Certification. He earned a BA in English literature from Kenyon College.
