Kellyn Sirach is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and reading specialist at Jefferson Middle School in Champaign Unit 4 School District in Champaign, Illinois. She is the leadership chair for the Student Engagement Committee that works to help support teachers with instructional strategies, tools and interventions to meet the diverse needs of students as well as a member of the MTSS Committee to ensure the needs of all students are met. She previously taught 8th grade reading language arts and was an adjunct professor at a local community college teaching development reading and writing. Kellyn was awarded the 30-Under-30 award from the International Literacy Association in 2016. Most recently, she co-founded and co-coordinated Champaign-Urbana’s first ever summer camp for students with dyslexia, Camp Monarch. She is a member of the Educator Advisory Council for Advance Illinois and a STAND for Children Illinois Early Literacy Fellow. Kellyn earned her BS from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Elementary Education with a Middle School ELA Endorsement and a MSED from Eastern Illinois University in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in reading instruction. She most recently finished coursework to become a Certified Academic Language Therapist from the ANDEEL Teacher Literacy Institute in Wichita, Kansas.
