Shaunestte Smith is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Indiana Policy Fellow and a 2nd grade teacher at West Lafayette Elementary School in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is currently serving on the DEI committee and PBIS committee to continue to strive for equitable experiences and trauma-informed care for all students. She previously taught kindergarten and has also helped to begin the licensing process for a community preschool within a public elementary school where she served as the classroom teacher. She earned a BA in early childhood education and elementary education as well as an MA in elementary education with a focus on early childhood from Ball State University.
