Trey Smith

Trey Smith is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow and K-8 digital literacy teacher at Marian Anderson Neighborhood Academy in Philadelphia. He coordinates three robotics clubs, science research club, junior chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers, and media club. Previously, Trey taught science, technology, and engineering at Boy’s Latin of Philadelphia Charter School. He has served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow on Capitol Hill (2014-2015), Science Teacher in Residence at the Library of Congress (2015-2016), and Presidential Awardee for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (2021). Trey is a teacher consultant with the Philadelphia Writing Project and adjunct instructor in the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. He earned his BA in communication studies and BA in political science with college honors from Louisiana State University. Trey received an MSEd in secondary science education from the University of Pennsylvania.
