Stacy Jones is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Rhode Island Policy Fellow. Stacy teaches 10th and 11th grade English at W. M. Davies Career and Technical High School in Lincoln, RI, where she also serves as the school’s diversity committee chair. She has secured a two-year, $10,000.00 SEL Innovation Fund award and a $57,730.00 Rhode Island Foundation grant. These funds support classroom instruction, professional development, and school culture in the critical areas of cultural competency, social-emotional learning, equity, and belonging. Stacy co-facilitated a panel discussion at the Harvard University Graduate School of Education 2016 Alumni of Color Conference. The panel, entitled Leaning Into The Discomfort of Diversity: Real Actions Necessary for Real Reforms, focused on how current recruitment and hiring practices in public school districts contribute to the lack of diversity among educational staff. She earned a MEd in School Leadership from Harvard Graduate School of Education, an MAT in Secondary Education from Clark University, and an MA in Journalism from New York University.
