Ana Suarez is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator. She is a Newcomer/Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) Middle School teacher, Bilingual Program Coordinator, and New Teacher Coach at Haugan Elementary School in Chicago. Ana focuses on creating a welcoming environment for students who newly arrived to the country, facilitating English language acquisition, and developing a strong bilingual program for Latinx students. She is Bilingual Program Coordinator and created the Newcomer Academy at Haugan Elementary. Ana was part of the Illinois School Leader Pipeline Program and served in the New Leaders Cohort (2023). She earned her BA in early childhood with a minor in bilingual/bicultural studies from Northeastern Illinois University and is currently working on a master’s in educational leadership at Northeastern Illinois University.
