Sweta Sobrin is a 2020-2021 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Policy Fellow and is the assistant director at Open Space Early Learning Center in Chicago. She works closely with teachers on professional development, instructional coaching, curriculum design, and leading by example. She ensures that the tenets of play-based education are being implemented every day in a fun, engaging, child-centered environment. Sweta has led many professional development workshops, including incorporating STEM curriculum in a play-based center, creating inclusive environments, and working collaboratively with early intervention specialists. She also serves as a consultant for First Discoveries, an early childhood outreach initiative through Kavli Institute of Cosmological Physics at University of Chicago — a program she co-founded. Sweta earned her BA in English at Rutgers University and her MEd in early childhood education from DePaul University.
