Patricia Swinton is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Arkansas Policy Fellow. She is an English language arts and fine arts teacher as well as a spirit coach at Wilbur D. Mills University Studies High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. She teaches professional communication and journalism. Her teaching career began at the collegiate level, where she served in various roles including composition instructor, Interim Department Chair, and Instructional Designer for the Division of General Education. Patricia received the Loyalty and Dedicated Service Award and the Exemplary Teacher of the Year Award from the General Board of Higher Education. Patricia is a member of the Rand American Educator Panel and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She holds a BS in biology from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and an MA in professional and technical writing from the University of Arkansas Little Rock. She is currently pursuing an executive Ph.D. from Jackson State University.
