Marissa Tanner is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Indiana Returning Policy Fellow. She is a 7th grade social studies teacher and department lead at Northview Middle School in Indianapolis. She is a member of her school’s instructional leadership team, which was awarded the Founder’s Award by the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (2026). Marissa is passionate about developing rigorous and equitable learning experiences that strengthen students’ literacy, critical thinking, and historical analysis skills. Previously, she taught high school social studies, including Advanced Placement courses, and served as a union representative. Marissa earned her BS in education from Indiana University.
