Kim Tate is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Illinois Senior Policy Fellow and a fifth-grade dual language teacher at International Prep Academy in Champaign. She is a member of her school improvement leadership team, co-chair of her school’s equity committee, and has served as an elementary grade level chair. Kim was named a Panda Fellow with the National Writing Project (2020-2021); a cohort member of the Pulitzer Center’s 1619 Project Education Network (2022); and is a recipient of NCTE’s Early Career Educator of Color Leadership Award (2022). Kim also serves as a building representative for the Champaign Federation of Teachers. Kim received her BS in elementary education from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Millikin University. She is working on her EdM in Education Policy, Organization & Leadership at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
