Kim Tate is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Illinois Affinity Group Facilitator. She is a 2nd grade dual language teacher and K-5 grade interventionist at International Prep Academy in Champaign, Illinois. Kim serves as Vice President of the Illini Chapter of the Illinois Reading Council. She previously taught 5th grade dual language and served on her school’s instructional leadership team. Kim received the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching (2023) and the National Council of Teachers of English Early Career Educator of Color Leadership Award (2022), and is National Board Certified. She earned a BA in elementary education from Millikin University and EdM in education policy, organization, and leadership from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
