Telia Kapteyn is a Teach Plus Greater Boston Teaching Policy Fellow who is a 1st grade teacher at Brooke Charter School in Roslindale, MA. She entered the teaching profession as a Teach for America corps member in New York City. At Teach For America’s Education 4 Justice program, Telia trains and mentors teachers on how to incorporate social justice pedagogy into their classrooms. She has also trained new teachers as a curriculum specialist and a literacy specialist at Teach for America’s Atlanta Institute. As a Fulbright Scholar in Malaysia, Telia worked with the Malaysian Ministry of Education and local educators to increase educational opportunities for low-income students. Telia earned a BS from New York University, an MAT from Hunter College-Teacher U, and an MEd from Harvard University.
