Jasmine Thompson is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow. She is a 3rd grade lead teacher at Penn Hills Charter School of Entrepreneurship in Pittsburgh. She also sits on the school’s Equity committee, is 6th Grade Book Club founder, and sponsors the Middle School Cheerleading Coach. During her undergraduate years, Jasmine immersed herself in various opportunities and internships that included Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools®, both as Site Coordinator and Servant Leader Intern. She was named New Educator of the Year by State of Black Learning (2024) and Nominee for Ladies Who Lead by the Professional Women’s Network (2024). Outside of the classroom, Jasmine is involved in community service initiatives and youth empowerment programs. She pursued her passion for education at both Slippery Rock University and the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned a BS in applied developmental psychology. She also obtained a master’s of teaching preK-4 from Duquesne University.
