Wendy Threatt is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Senior Policy Fellow. Wendy is a 4th grade teacher at Felicita Elementary School in Escondido, California. She often uses several professional development experiences simultaneously to create units that connect many skills and ideas. Wendy piloted a new science curriculum, helped design a standards-based report card, and advocated for teachers from within the insurance committee. She leads the Girls on the Run (GOTR) after-school program and worked with district officials to utilize funding to offer GOTR to all 23 school sites in her district. Wendy was named Escondido Union School District Teacher of the Year and a San Diego County Teacher of the Year. She was also awarded Girls on the Run Coach of the Year. In her 25 years in education, she has taught 3rd and 4th grade. Wendy holds National Board Certification. She earned a BS in mass communication and an MAT from Towson University.
