Cheryl Tomlinson is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Michigan Policy Fellow and a Pre-AP English 2 and AP Language and Composition teacher at University K-12 Academy in Southfield. Cheryl serves as the advisor for the Middle School United for Christ club. Cheryl previously served as the principal at Southfield Christian Middle School, director of curriculum at University Prep Schools, and as the National Curriculum Coordinator for Edison Schools. Cheryl is a Meadowbrook Writing Project of Oakland University Teacher Fellow. She was the Detroit Parent Network’s 2023 Parent Champion. Cheryl is the founder/president of Sowing Into You, Inc. a nonprofit for 13-17 year olds focusing on academic enrichment, self-confidence building, mental health, and the importance of sowing into themselves to help others. She has a BS in English/communications from Michigan State University and an MA in curriculum/teaching and a certificate in reading from Oakland University.
