Kelly Torres is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and teacher leader who teaches regular and Advanced Placement U.S. history at Fenton High School in Bensenville, Illinois. She has extensive experience in curriculum design, with a strong focus on project-based learning and supporting struggling students. Additionally, Kelly has designed courses around enhancing students’ executive functioning and social-emotional learning skills. Drawing on her past experience in the dean’s office, as a head volleyball coach, and in leadership roles within her union, Kelly has addressed equity issues and fostered inclusive environments that empower all learners. She was named a Golden Apple Finalist (2025). Kelly earned two BAs from Loyola University Chicago in social studies and education, an MEd in educational leadership and K–12 Principal licensure from American College of Education, and an EdD in curriculum and instruction from American College of Education.
