Carly Toth is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Equity Leadership Institute member and a K-12 English as a Second Language Specialist in the South Allegheny School District in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. She focuses on cultural assimilation and education among the general student population, while supporting English learners as they acquire academic vocabulary and share their cultures. Carly began her educational career in 1999 as a French teacher. After 19 years teaching French, she became an ESL specialist and, briefly, taught gifted education. Carly holds a board position on a local animal rescue and coordinates field trips for local autism classrooms to visit the rescue and learn about pet care and safety. She earned her BA in French and Spanish from Slippery Rock University, teaching certification through Chatham College (now Chatham University) and her ESL specialist certificate through an Intermediate Unit, which is a regional educational service agency in Pennsylvania.
