Travon Jefferson is a 2019-20 Teach Plus Texas Senior Fellow. Travon teaches 5th grade English language arts and social studies at Shadydale Elementary School in Houston ISD. Travon started his career as a Relay Graduate Teaching Fellow at KIPP Polaris Academy for Boys, where he taught 5th grade English language arts. During his time at KIPP Polaris, he co-founded “The Society of Gentlemen,” a student organization dedicated to the social, cultural, and moral improvements of its 5th grade members and led the Japanese culture and language club for his 5th graders. Travon has served in AmeriCorps and currently working towards an MEd in Administration and Supervision at the University of Houston. He graduated from Relay Graduate School of Education with an MA in Teaching and received his BA in Secondary English Education from The University of Michigan, School of Education.
