Jeanette Valdez

Jeanette Valdez is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow and 5th grade teacher at Minnequa Elementary School in Pueblo, Colorado. She teaches mathematics, reading intervention, science, and social-emotional learning. Jeanette has served on curriculum adoption committees: literacy (2014), science (2016), and SEL (2022). She also has been district math lead, and part of Project Lead the Way Science/Engineering. Jeanette has been recognized for performing the Heimlich Maneuver (2016 and 2018) and Teacher of the Year (2025). She began her teaching career in 1997 as a private day-care child-development associate. Jeanette received a Child Development Associate Certificate from Pueblo Community College, AA in early childhood from Pueblo Community College, BA in interdisciplinary studies/literacy from Adams State University, and MA in curriculum and instruction/Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics from Adams State University.
