Laura Vance is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Colorado Policy Fellow. Laura is a 1st grade teacher at Stratton Meadows Elementary School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is on the Thrive Team that encompasses strategies through Capturing Kids Hearts, Love and Logic, PBIS, and various academic roles. She is a mentor for new teachers at her school. Laura has been a National Education Association representative for many years, has served on committees in her home school as well as the district, and has been a mentor for other staff members. Laura was named MacArthur Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Stratton Meadows Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She earned her BA in science of education in elementary education with a minor in music, and an MA in educational diversity and reading from New Mexico State University
