Laura Vance is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Colorado Senior Policy Fellow and 1st grade teacher leader at Sand Creek International School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is a member of the Building Leadership, District Accountability, and Staff Morale teams, as well as is a teacher mentor. Laura was named MacArthur Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year in Las Cruces, New Mexico, (2018-2019), and Stratton Meadows Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year (2022-2023) in Colorado Springs. Laura is a union leader for the National Education Association. She earned a BSEd in elementary education from New Mexico State University, with courses from Oregon State University. Laura also has a minor in music and an MA in educational diversity and reading, both from New Mexico State University.
