Brian VanKirk is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow and K-5 computer science teacher at Southmoreland Elementary School and Southmoreland Primary Center in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He also is an online instructor for Greenways Academy that serves 34 districts throughout the state, teaching middle and high school business, computer, and family and consumer science courses. Brian is an adjunct instructor in the Westmoreland County Community College business department. He serves as a Minority Board Chairperson for the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Brian earned a BS in human services from the University of the Cumberlands, MBA from William Woods University, and teaching certification from Moreland University. He received an EdS in educational technology at the University of Central Missouri and is pursuing an EdD in educational leadership, with principal certification, at the University of the Cumberlands.
