Catherine Verdadeiro is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow. Catherine is a Dual Language Education teacher at Gomes Elementary school in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Her role is to implement educational programs for children in the dual language education program. She utilizes first and second language acquisition methodologies and strategies in the dual language bilingual model as well as language development assessment and strategies. Catherine plans and implements the program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities. She implements curricular goals and objectives using effective teaching techniques and materials to support students’ learning in an inclusive manner by differentiating instruction. Catherine taught ESL for adults for over five years, and is also an Interpreter and translator certificates, specifically for special education, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She earned her BA in accounting from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and an MED in Special Education from Lesley University.
