Victoria Kassa is a Teach Plus Los Angeles Teaching Policy Fellow. Victoria is a transitional kindergarten to 1st grade teacher at Heliotrope Elementary school in the city of Maywood in Los Angeles County. A National Board Certified teacher, Victoria serves as a mentor and resource in the areas of curricular modification for students with disabilities and encouraging appropriate behavior while providing motivation for students. Victoria has served in many capacities including professional development workshop facilitator, district intern program instructor, Professional Response to Assault Trainer (PART) mentor teacher, lead teacher, and union chairperson for the school site. She has previously taught general education students (2nd through 5th grade) as well as special needs students at several LAUSD schools. Victoria earned a BA in Black Studies and Sociology from Amherst College, a BS in Special Education and Specialist Credentials (severe and mild/moderate) from California State University, Long Beach, and her Professional Clear Teaching Credential from California State University, Los Angeles.
