Kim Walker is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Philadelphia Affinity Group Network Facilitator and 10th grade African American history teacher at Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School in Philadelphia. She develops inquiry-based curriculum and is a strong advocate for expanding experiential learning opportunities for students through partnerships with Philadelphia’s cultural institutions. Kim previously served as the teacher for Mastbaum’s Honors Ambassador cohort and coordinator for its Agriculture Ambassadors. Kim began her teaching career in 2007, helping to develop Mastbaum’s African American history courses. She is an educational tour contributor for 1838 Black Metropolis, participated in the Institute of Colored Youth Graduation Project, served as a Teacher Consultant for Philly250, and received the Lindback Distinguished Teaching Award (2021–2022) and the Philadelphia Association of School Retirees Educational Support Award (2025–2026). She earned a BA in history and MEd in secondary education from Temple University.
