Sophie Wang is a 2024-2025 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow and a 5th grade teacher at Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Boston. She focuses on using students’ and families’ funds of knowledge to shape culturally competent curricula in order to foster students’ intrinsic motivation and classroom engagement. She previously served as the 5th grade lead on her school’s Instructional Leadership Team for three years and helped develop the school’s Quality School Plan to better integrate systemic functional linguistics into their writing curriculum. Sophie began her teaching career in Fort Worth as a 2016 Breakthrough Collaborative Teacher Fellow and has since taught various grades between 1st and 5th. She earned her BA in psychology with a minor in teaching and learning studies from Wellesley College.
