Jo Weary is a 2023-24 Teach Plus Texas Policy Fellow. Jo is the Lead Special Education teacher at IDEA Converse College Prep in San Antonio, TX. She is an educator who defines herself as an advocate for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She is a part of the school’s Crisis Team and she also served as a Behavior Management Teacher at IDEA Converse Academy. As a Black Educator, Jo strives to do her best to eliminate cultural disconnects to help her students and colleagues reach their potential. She believes that doing so allows every educator to have the utmost opportunity to teach to the best of their ability and, in turn, every student will receive the best education possible. Jo holds a BA in Multidisciplinary Studies with a focus on Special Education from UTSA, is certified in Special Education K-12, and is trained in Crisis Prevention Intervention.
