Jafari Wells is a 2026-2027 Teach Plus Texas Houston Policy Fellow and 5th grade Art of Thinking teacher at Askew Elementary School in Houston. He was a member of the Ortiz Middle School Decision Making Committee. Jafari previously taught 8th grade U.S. history as a 2022 Teach for America corps member, served as a 7th grade Texas history teacher with Houston Independent School District (HISD), worked as an educational consultant, and completed a summer fellowship with the Indiana Department of Education. He was selected for the HISD Teacher Leader Academy (2026). Jafari earned a BA in history and political science from Rutgers University-New Brunswick and is currently pursuing an MPA and JD from Texas Southern University.
