Danielle Wilkes teaches AP English Language and Composition and dual credit English 1301 and 1302 at John Paul Stevens High School in San Antonio. During her tenure as president of Northside ISD’s Gifted/Talented Advisory Council, Wilkes was awarded Hill Country Area Parent of the Gifted by Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented for her work advocating for gifted learners at the local and state level. Wilkes was also awarded Teacher of the Year when she worked at Friendswood Junior High in 2008. Before moving into advanced academics, Wilkes started her career in Navasota ISD opening up Carver Learning Center, an alternative school, as a secondary English teacher and parent educator. Wilkes earned her BS in health education with a minor in English from Texas A&M University while completing coursework toward her MA in literature at University of Houston-Clear Lake and her MEd in educational leadership from Lamar University.
