Nina Williams is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Illinois Policy Fellow and a 5th grade teacher at William Hatch Elementary School in Oak Park. She serves as a member of her building’s school improvement leadership team and works to increase students’ access to culturally relevant texts as a Project LIT chapter leader. Nina has previously supported upper elementary students to develop a deeper understanding of math concepts as a math discourse specialist. She works alongside educators and local organizers to advocate for educational justice in her school community as part of the Leaders for Just Schools cohort through the Illinois Education Association’s Opportunity Coalition. Nina graduated from Illinois State University with her BS in Elementary Education, as well as a Reading Teacher endorsement.
