Rachel Woods is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus New Mexico Policy Fellow, a National Board Certified, and 9th-12th grade English language development teacher at Albuquerque High School. She has been a teacher for 11 years and has taught pre-k-12th grade in Saint Louis, Missouri; Denver, Colorado; Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Montezuma, Costa Rica. Rachel was recognized for her work with newly arrived immigrant and refugee English learners in 2017 with the Excellence in Student Achievement Award by the New Mexico School Boards Association. She received her Bachelor’s degrees from the University of New Mexico in Elementary Education and Spanish, her Master’s degree in Secondary TESOL from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis. She finished her EdS Administrator Certificate and is working on her PhD in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies at the University of New Mexico.
