Laurie Yankie is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Texas Harmony Teacher Advisory Cabinet Member. Laurie is a 6th-12th grade special education teacher teaching life skills at Harmony School of Innovation in Waco, Texas. Laurie is a member of the school safety team, special education team, and has served on several school committees in a variety of positions over the past several years. Formerly the special education coordinator, she recently returned to the classroom. In the past, she has taught 7th and 8th grade English language arts as well as English as a second language. She graduated from The University of Texas with a BA in social work. She obtained an MEd from Tarleton State University and an MEd in teaching English to speakers of other languages from Grand Canyon University.
