Terry Young Jr. is a 2025-2026 Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow and 9th grade special education English teacher at Kipp Dubois Collegiate Academy in Philadelphia. Prior to his career as an educator, he worked in politics, organizing with Feminist Majority, Grassroots Campaigns, Inc., and the Pennsylvania Democratic Party. Terry has written about sociopolitical topics related to pop culture for Medium, in addition to publications like the Hampton Institute and The Drum Newspaper of Baton Rouge. He is a member of ACT-UP Philly, Rotary Club of Philadelphia, and Next Philadelphia, an Urban League affiliate. He has a BA in political science from Grambling State University and master’s in public administration from Louisiana State University.
