Omar Zamarripa is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus California Policy Fellow. Omar is a 9th and 10th grade teacher leader at Port of Los Angeles High School in San Pedro, California. He focuses on teaching children in the areas of giftedness and bilingual/bicultural development in order to foster their self-efficacy and help them find their voice. Omar has the most science credentials at his school site (biological sciences, chemistry, and physics) and will soon be developed into a lead teacher to help run the science department. Omar was nominated to the city council ballot in 2018 for the city of Montclair, California. Omar continues to serve the public as a commissioned notary public. He earned his BS in biology with a concentration in physiology from San Francisco State University. He earned both his bilingual teaching credential and an MEd in teaching from Adler Graduate School Of Education.
