Rye Zemelsky is a 2023-2024 Teach Plus Massachusetts Policy Fellow. Rye is a 4th and 5th grade teacher at The Willie Ross School for the Deaf in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. She teaches all subject areas but is particularly interested in social emotional learning, math education, bilingual/bicultural development, and American Sign Language (ASL) story read-alouds. Her goals are to help her students become kind and empathetic humans and confident bilingual scholars. She took a leadership role with mentoring new teachers with a focus on classroom management and family engagement strategies. Rye began her career in education while working and coaching at The Learning Center for the Deaf in Framingham, Massachusetts. She earned her BA in American studies: Deaf Culture and ASL from Smith College. She earned her Outdoor Leadership Certification from Greenfield Community College.
