Rebecca Zirnheld is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Indiana Policy Fellow and a special education teacher leader who serves students ages 17-68 pursuing their Core 40 High School diploma at Christel House DORS in Indianapolis, Indiana. She focuses on supporting students to identify and mitigate challenges as they work toward achieving their education goals. Rebecca wrote and received funding for 13 grants to further community engagement and STEM opportunities for students with disabilities; she was honored with the Above and Beyond Award (2019-20). Rebecca began her teaching career in Michigan as an elementary school teacher and served as a high school teacher for two years as a US Peace Corps Volunteer. She currently holds a Professional Educator License in Mild Intervention and she is a PEERS–Certified Adolescent Provider She earned a MSEd in Special Education from Purdue University, and a MAT from Wayne State University.
