Michelle Zurita-Sharpe is a 2022-2023 Teach Plus Illinois Early Childhood Educator Senior Policy Fellow and a pre-kindergarten special education teacher in a blended classroom at Blair Early Childhood Center in Chicago. She is 2022-23 Illinois Action for Children Maria Whelan Leadership Institute Early Childhood Emerging Leaders Fellow and serves as the Chicago Southland Chapter Chairperson and as a Public Policy Committee Member for the Illinois Association for the Education of Young Children. She also sits on Illinois Senator Elgie R. Sims Jr’s Education Committee. She has previously worked as a HeadStart teacher at Gads Hill Albany Childcare Center and as a Community Resource Coordinator Program Assistant at Jordan Elementary Community School for AmeriCorp/Youth Guidance. Michelle received her BS in Early Childhood Special Education with a minor in Education Policy Studies and an ESL endorsement from Loyola University at Chicago.
