Antonio Sangueza, Jr. supports the Teach Plus Texas team as the Houston Policy Manager and will lead the new Houston Advocacy Program to deepen our engagement in Houston, develop and execute a regional advocacy strategy by growing a grassroots teacher advocacy cohort, develop relationships in the education community, and leverage partnerships to produce policy outcomes that improve student outcomes and the teaching profession. Antonio will continue to lead the planning and coordination of the Texas Teacher Network and support the Texas Executive Director in grant writing and reporting.
Antonio began his career serving with City Year Seattle and Outward Bound Atlanta as an AmeriCorps member. He later spent three years teaching 8th grade Science and coaching boys basketball at KIPP Academy in Houston, Texas. Before joining Teach Plus, Antonio worked to increase the accessibility of disaster recovery programs as a Harvey Legal Fellow at Texas Appleseed, and reduce schools’ reliance on exclusionary discipline practices while working at the Earl Carl institute.
Antonio earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science at Clayton State University and his JD at the University of Georgia School of Law.
