Chris Marino (he/him) is the Executive Director of Teach Plus Massachusetts. Chris joined Teach Plus in 2017 as the Policy Manager and has led policy fellowships in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. During his tenure with the organization, he has successfully led the Teach Plus Fellows’ efforts on advocating for changes and influencing policy decisions in educator preparation, teacher evaluation, the adoption of high quality standards and assessments, increasing chapter 70 funding for high needs districts, advocating for Early Childhood Education, addressing social emotional needs of students and the diversification of the educator workforce to name a few areas. Most recently, Chris has been leading advocacy efforts around early literacy, advocating for the passage of The Educator Diversity Act, working on advocacy for our LGBTQ students, teachers, and communities and to ensure that students across the Commonwealth have a graduation competency determination that will ensure our students are prepared for lifelong success. Teach Plus Massachusetts has served as conveners of educators and policy makers and developed networks of practitioners across the Commonwealth and has been successful working across sectors and bringing teachers from district, charter and parochial schools together to share best practice in classroom instruction. Chris has over a dozen years as an elementary classroom educator, served on the executive council for his teachers’ association and also worked as the Director of Leadership Strategy for Boston Public Schools. Chris holds a MA in Teaching and Curriculum from the University of Rochester and a MA in Educational Leadership from St. John Fisher University.
