Dan Mendoza

As Senior Education Leadership Coach, Dan oversees the planning and development of the Ready to Lead Fellowship while also lending his technology skills to programs. 

Over the past four years, Dan has lent his leadership skills to several spaces across Teach Plus. In addition to supporting teacher leaders and district leaders in Harmony, Dan has played a significant role in developing the Ready to Lead Fellowship. Since its conception in 2019, Dan has worked with a total of  13 Fellows in developing and leading affinity groups that work to encourage the recruitment and retention of teachers of color in the teaching profession.  Through his leadership, Dan was able to extend the program and secure additional funding. In growing the work, an opportunity for alumni of this program to continue to lean into the space and participate as Senior Fellows. In addition to Dan leading, designing, and developing the materials for this program, he finds time to oversee and pilot the Teach Plus podcast and co-lead the Teach Plus Leadership PLC.

Prior to joining Teach Plus in 2018, Dan served as a secondary teacher and administrator for public and private schools, including the International Leadership of Texas and Newman International Academy charter schools in Arlington, Texas, and he is an active community service volunteer.  Dan served in the U. S. Navy as an Air Traffic Controller before returning to Texas to serve in Title I schools in the Dallas Fort Worth area. He holds an MA in Political Science with a specialization in Public Administration from the University of West Florida.
