Dr. Donna L. Ervin is a first-grade teacher at Pittsburgh Miller PreK–5 in the Hill District, where she teaches reading, mathematics, writing, history, and science. Before returning to the classroom, she served Pittsburgh Public Schools for nearly a decade as a District Learning Environment Specialist, designing and facilitating equity-centered professional development and supporting schoolwide culture and climate initiatives across more than 50 schools.
Dr. Ervin has served as both a Teach Plus Pennsylvania Policy Fellow and Senior Policy Fellow. Her awards and professional affiliations include the Pittsburgh Public Schools Distinguished Teacher Award, the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Teaching Advisory Council.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Chatham University, a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Management and Leadership from Robert Morris University. Dr. Ervin currently serves as a BEAM—Belonging, Empowerment, and Mentorship—facilitator and is a proud member of the Teach Plus Pennsylvania Regional Advisory Board.
