Illinois Education Leadership Coach

Kimberly Henderson

Kimberly Henderson joins Teach Plus as Illinois Education Leadership Coach, where she will train and coach a cohort of Teacher Leaders across the Chicagoland and IL region as they lead change in their schools as a part of the Teacher Led Continuous Improvement Network (TLCIN).

Kimberly has 27 years of experience in urban education, serving as a teacher, AVID program manager, resident, assistant principal, and, most recently, principal on the south side of Chicago. As a school leader, Kimberly focused on closing the opportunity gap that exists in many urban schools by bringing extracurricular sports and fine arts programs to her students and including dance classes, choir, and various sports teams for girls and boys. She also secured funding to accompany her 8th-grade class on a once-in-a-lifetime HBCU college tour, visiting over 8 universities across 5 states.

Kimberly enjoys leading professional development for teachers and staff and has mentored many teacher leaders who have gone on to become school leaders across the Chicago-land area. She is a graduate of New Leaders for New Schools and has earned degrees and professional certifications from Howard University, National Louis University, and Concordia University.
