National Development Director

Camille Howells

Camille Howells serves as the National Development Director for Teach Plus, where she leads national fundraising strategy and manages key philanthropic portfolios for both Teach Plus and the Center for Inspired Teaching & Exceptional Learning (the CITEL.) Throughout her career, she has been deeply committed to work that unlocks educational opportunity and economic mobility for underserved students and enables sector innovation. She is continually inspired by the philanthropic champions who help make this impact possible.

Before joining Teach Plus, Camille was a Managing Director of Development at Teach For America, spearheading fundraising across all revenue streams in Colorado to drive regional initiatives. Earlier, as a founding leadership team member at STRIVE Preparatory Schools (now Rocky Mountain Prep), she was instrumental in growing the high-performing network of K-12 public charter schools from 1 to 11 schools over her tenure through securing vital startup and expansion capital and helping lead external affairs. A fellowship at El Pomar Foundation and previous roles at Colorado State University and AmeriCorps deepened her interest in community impact and systems-level change.

Camille holds a BS in Family and Human Services from John Brown University and a MPA from the University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs with a focus on education policy and social entrepreneurship. She also holds a certificate in CSR/ESG Strategy from the University of Colorado Boulder and is a graduate of the Institute for Leaders in Development at the University of Denver.

She lives near the foothills of west Denver with her husband and children.
