We’re excited to welcome Fran Lazette as our new Teacher-in-Residence, serving from October 1 through June 30th. In this pilot role, Fran will bring a teacher’s perspective to strategic initiatives across Teach Plus, providing thought partnership to leadership, supporting and contributing to the Teacher Voice Center, Federal Policy, and CITEL teams.
This residency is a crucial first step in developing the structure necessary to consider a potential full-scale launch of a Teacher-in-Residence program, expanding our teacher leadership opportunities, and ensuring that educator voices are central to our work.
Before joining Teach Plus, Fran Lazette was a teacher at Scarlett Middle School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has over 17 years of teaching and leadership experience in Title I schools in southeast Michigan. In addition to her teaching role, Frances participated in the Teach Plus-EdTrust Midwest Michigan Teacher Leadership Collaborative program and in the Teach Michigan Education Policy Fellowship. She is an executive member of the Teach Plus National Policy Cabinet.
Fran holds a BA in Political Science and French & Francophone studies from the University of Michigan and a MEd in Urban and Diversity Education from Eastern Michigan University. She lives in Detroit, Michigan, with her family.
